TiviMate is a well-known IPTV player for Android-based televisions and streaming devices, including Fire TV. People like it because the interface feels like a traditional cable box: a clear channel list, a programme guide and quick channel switching. This guide walks through adding your subscription, loading the guide and organising channels.
A note on versions: apps change, and some features sit behind a paid upgrade inside the app. Check the current app listing for what is included in the free and premium versions before you decide.
Where TiviMate Runs
TiviMate is aimed at Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV style devices. It is not designed for Samsung or LG televisions, nor for Apple TV, so owners of those platforms should look at the options in our guides for Samsung, LG and Apple devices.
If you are setting up a Fire TV Stick for the first time, start with our Firestick guide and the Android TV and Google TV guide to prepare the device, then return here.
Before You Install
- Update your device software and make sure there is free storage.
- Have your login details ready: server address, username and password, or the full M3U link.
- Know whether your provider supplies a separate guide (EPG) link; many do, and some include the guide with the login.
- Use a keyboard or your phone to type, since remotes make long links painful.
Step 1: Install the App
Open the Google Play Store on Android TV or Google TV, or the Amazon Appstore on Fire TV, and search for TiviMate. Make sure you choose the correct listing from the genuine developer and read recent reviews. If the app is not offered on your device, do not install it from random websites; choose another player instead.
Step 2: Add Your Playlist
On first launch TiviMate offers to add a playlist. The common choices are:
| Option | Use when |
|---|---|
| Xtream codes login | Your provider gave you a server address, username and password |
| M3U playlist | You have a single playlist link or file |
| Other formats | Your provider specifically recommends them |

Enter the details carefully and confirm. TiviMate then downloads the channel list. A large list can take a minute or two. For help deciding between the two common formats, see our later comparison of M3U and Xtream codes.
If the playlist will not load
- Re-type the login rather than pasting a link with hidden spaces.
- Check the device has working internet by opening another app.
- Make sure the link is complete and ends where it should.
- Ask for fresh details through the contact page if nothing works.
Step 3: Load the TV Guide
A programme guide (EPG) shows what is on now and next. With Xtream-style logins the guide often loads automatically. With an M3U link you may need to add a separate guide source in the settings. After adding it, allow time for the guide to download, because it can be large. The guide is matched to channels by identifiers, so if some channels show no data, they may simply lack a match.
If the guide stays empty, check that the device clock and time zone are correct, refresh the guide source, and confirm the guide link with your provider. Our upcoming guide to IPTV EPG problems covers the causes in detail.
Step 4: Organise Your Channels
This is where TiviMate shines. Spend ten minutes on it and the app becomes much more pleasant to use.
- Create a favourites group and add the channels you actually watch.
- Hide categories you never open, so the list is shorter.
- Reorder groups so sport, news or kids sit at the top.
- Rename or sort channels when the provider's naming is messy.
- Use the guide view to jump straight to what is on now.
You can compare the categories your provider offers on our channels page. A good favourites list matters more than a huge channel count.
Step 5: Tune Playback
Open the playback settings and review the player and decoder options. Hardware decoding is usually the best default, but if you see green frames or black screens on a particular device, trying another option can help. Also check frame-rate matching, if your device supports it, to reduce judder on sport.
Network setup matters as much as the app. A wired connection or strong 5 GHz Wi-Fi gives the stream a stable path, and our guides to improving IPTV streaming performance and internet speed requirements explain how to check yours.
Why People Choose TiviMate
The appeal is familiarity. If you are moving from a cable box, the multi-pane guide, quick channel up and down, and favourites groups will feel immediately comfortable. That is a real advantage in a household where not everyone wants to learn a new interface.
- A cable-style guide that shows several channels at once
- Fast channel switching with the remote
- Favourites and custom groups for each family member
- Support for several playlists, so you can separate sources if you need to
- Options for recording and catch-up on supported setups, which depend on your provider and storage, so check what applies to your plan
Keeping it tidy over time
Playlists change when providers add or rename channels. Refresh the playlist from time to time, and if you notice duplicates, remove the playlist and add it again rather than stacking copies. Back up your settings if the app offers it, so a reinstall does not erase your favourites.
It also helps to keep the device itself healthy. Free storage, a restart every week or so, and the latest system update prevent most of the odd freezes people blame on the player.
Using TiviMate With Multiple Devices
If you use TiviMate on more than one television, set each device up the same way so favourites and groups feel familiar. Keep in mind that each active stream counts against the connections on your plan, so two screens playing at once need two connections.
Troubleshooting TiviMate
| Symptom | What to try |
|---|---|
| Channel list empty | Re-check credentials; refresh the playlist; reinstall if needed |
| No guide data | Refresh the guide; confirm the guide source and the device clock |
| Buffering | Switch to Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi; try another decoder |
| App slow | Clear cache, free storage, restart device |
| Wrong channel names | Rename or regroup in the app's playlist settings |
